[linux-lvm] vgscan fails to find VGs

Yes I've have a hda partition lvm, hda6 to be exact.
with the cdrom closed (with a cd) vgscan also completes almost
immediatly:
[root at pc-16 te]# time vgscan
vgscan -- reading all physical volumes (this may take a while...)
vgscan -- found active volume group "vgroot"
vgscan -- "/etc/lvmtab" and "/etc/lvmtab.d" successfully created
