[linux-lvm] lvremove -- ERROR:

my pvscan give me this result

 pvscan
pvscan -- reading all physical volumes (this may take
a while...)
pvscan -- inactive PV "/dev/cciss/c0d1" is in no VG 
[67.83 GB]
pvscan -- total: 1 [67.83 GB] / in use: 0 [0] / in no
VG: 1 [67.83 GB]

but when i am trying to remove the volume  i am
getting this eror 

lvremove -f /dev/cciss/c0d1
lvremove -- ERROR: no valid logical volume name
"/dev/cciss/c0d1"

please help
