I don't understand -- what changes? BTW I think it would be difficult to handle complex Vedic markup in OT. If you can do it that's fine, but I myself am not able to think in the OpenType way. http://sanskrit1.ccv.brown.edu/tomcat/sl/accents.html has a list of combinations which Peter Scharf (who was an important contributor to the Vedic Extensions proposal) expects to render properly. (I will put this link on the bug for record's sake.) As I remarked in my comment #7 on the bug, I will be doing Graphite tables later on which you can also add to the Lohit font itself. (I suppose you have grcompiler package on Fedora? See http://packages.debian.org/sid/grcompiler/) Note that Graphite tables are just additional tables and do not conflict with the OpenType tables. -- Shriramana Sharma From pravin.d.s at gmail.com Wed Jul 11 11:21:09 2012 From: pravin.d.s at gmail.com (pravin.d.s at gmail.com) Date: Wed, 11 Jul 2012 16:51:09 +0530 Subject: [Lohit-devel-list] [Bug 798871] [RFP] Please add Vedic Extensions to Lohit fonts In-Reply-To: References: Message-ID: On 11 July 2012 15:28, Shriramana Sharma wrote: > Moving to lohit-devel. > > On Wed, Jul 11, 2012 at 11:24 AM, wrote: > > https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=798871 > > > > --- Comment #9 from Pravin Satpute --- > > Wow, thats nice. > > Thanks. > > > I am thinking to release Lohit Vedic rather than making Lohit Devanagari > to > > much bulky. > > I would prefer you call it Lohit Devanagari Vedic. Anchor names should be different. Between even we have to do this in upstream but problem is once we merge all font together, bug fixing will be very difficult. Present plan is once all lohit fonts give perfect result with Harfbuzz-ng we can add one more font having all script together. But it has some disadvantage as well.
