I would prefer you call it Lohit Devanagari Vedic. Vedic fonts for
other scripts may also be produced in future. Vedic != Devanagari
only.

Right on both.

I don't understand -- what changes?

BTW I think it would be difficult to handle complex Vedic markup in
OT. If you can do it that's fine, but I myself am not able to think in
the OpenType way.

http://sanskrit1.ccv.brown.edu/tomcat/sl/accents.html has a list of
combinations which Peter Scharf (who was an important contributor to
the Vedic Extensions proposal) expects to render properly. (I will put
this link on the bug for record's sake.)

As I remarked in my comment #7 on the bug, I will be doing Graphite
tables later on which you can also add to the Lohit font itself. (I
suppose you have grcompiler package on Fedora? See
http://packages.debian.org/sid/grcompiler/) Note that Graphite tables
are just additional tables and do not conflict with the OpenType
tables.
