Dear hackers!

Sorry that things have been quiet in git master lately. Recently with
my departure from RH [1] and some other big life changes, I've been a
bit behind on my hacking. Progress is still on-going, and I'll be
picking up the pace!

NEWS

I've been working on the `import` and modules code, which is turning
out to be rather complex because it involves deciding on whether to lex
and parse each file individually, as a concatenated group, or via a
hybrid approach. There's some early code in a feature branch, but the
bulk is still in my personal repo as a WIP. Got to get it all working
before I split it into clean patches =D

One bit of unfortunate news is that there's a mostly harmless bug in
git master which causes the tests to sometimes fail. This was
introduced with the engine re-write. It's rarely triggered in real-
life, and so it shouldn't block anyone, but I'm deferring the fix until
I finish some of this import code. Patches are welcome in the meantime!

EVENTS

There are two GREAT upcoming events:

1) 02/Feb/2018 - FOSDEM 2019, Brussels, Belgium
https://lists.fosdem.org/pipermail/fosdem/2018q4/002744.html

There will be a Config Management Devroom at this years FOSDEM. Please
submit an mgmt related talk today! I'll help you prepare your
submission if you'd like some help, support, or just a review.

There are also a number of other devrooms which you might consider
submitting to in case your topic is more relevant there. (Eg: a
mgmt+nspawn talk in the container devroom.)

The CFP closes soon! Please submit today!

5) 4-6/Feb/2019 - CfgMgmtCamp.eu, Gent, Belgium
http://cfgmgmtcamp.eu/

Right after FOSDEM, take a ~30min train ride to Gent and stay for the
premier Config Management related event in the world. I hope to have a
talk accepted (new things), and I hope you do too!

The CFP closes soon! Please submit today. If you'd like me to review a
d
raft of your proposal, please send it to me and I'll be happy to help.

On the last day of the conference, there is a "fringe" day where we'll
be around to talk about mgmt, help you write patches, and discuss the
future! There will be a dedicated room for this, so please join us!

Happy Hacking!
James
