NYC Owners Discuss Data Center Investment & Operations
How are Legendary City Landlords Approaching Data Center Real Estate
Most of the data centers in the country are located in suburban
locations, away from cities. However, in recent months, new
investment has occurred in urban locations, often involving the
repositioning of an existing asset.
Driven by the end-user's desire to have data infrastructure in close
proximity to corporate offices, will future investment and
development shift to urban settings, and what's required?
> How have historic New York City landlords of office, retail and
other property types repositioned existing assets for data centers?
Have owners capitalized on the growth of data centers and the new
"digital society?" Featured Panel:
New York City & Urban Data Center Market: Following Sabey's
Acquisition of the Verizon Building, Could Investment and Development
Shift Back to City Settings?
Key Talking Points:
* Repositioning of existing assets in urban locations (office,
retail, industrial and other property types) to data centers and
requirements related to the building's IT/fiber infrastructure,
ceiling height requirements, security, and cooling system(s).
* Should current office and retail owners lease space to data center
firms as a way to boost NOI in the current economic recovery period?
* What are the advantages of the urban data center setting?
* How are landlords working with IT firms and technology service
providers (fiber, power, cooling) in the repositioning of an asset?
Moderator: Jeff Moerdler, Member, Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky
and Popeo, P.C.
