In fact, if you look at products like Softricity for Windows, you see
that people pay good money indeed to be able to run multiple versions of
apps at once on Windows, since Windows is so bad at this (lacking shared
library versioning).  DLL hell is the windows nightmare that means that
most people reinstall windows from scratch every 6 months to a year.
