Yeah, it kicks the compressed size up by about 2.5MB.  That being said, I think
we are going to start needing hal for other things as well (my current bonding
work is also going to need it).  I guess we may as well take it and start
dealing with the pain.  I've already looked at ways to minimize the impact, but
haven't come up with anything satisfactory yet; I'll post patches as I have them.
