In my case I've been working against our internal LDAP server and that takes 
up to about 5 seconds turnaround. Not *terribly* slow, but when you then 
throw on rolling those names into JSON and processing on the browser side, 
it's pretty slow. With the caching in place you only have the JSON portion to 
contend with, which I don't think we can get around.
