Then I suppose one will only have to modify libpwdb and pam_unix to make 
it understand a new argument... As long as a new datasources does not 
introduce new and very application-dependant keys (such RADIUS and TACACS 
does), I don't see the meaning to have a separate module for this...

UNIX is user friendly. It's just selective about who its friends are.
