Hi Andrew. 

  What i think the problem is is a munged install. Here is the /lib/security
(which, by all accounts looks ok...not linked?)
note the datestamps. The munged install was yesterday, Feb 20, though
i believe all these files are from the previous install. Had i a
second DEC sitting here, i'd scp the files there, but alas.

  So, yes, i think i *found* the problem, not the cure. If i try
the install, the same thing happens repeatedly...reboots during the
install, leaving the system worse off than before. :-))

  I've the CD on order, since it's so much easier that way, but i
was too eager.
