Hmm I love to hear the detail then ;)
The simplest way to escape a chroot jail that I know is:

chdir("foo");
chroot("..");

But a) "foo" must be a directory under the current root, and b) you must
be root to call chroot(). But this is getting way out of the scope of
pam-list.
