Re: authentication via Netware 4.x

Hi,
Novell is also bringing out its NDS on Unix, which will
have both pam and nss modules for NDS. But currently
it is available only on Solaris.

Hi,

Is there a way to authenticate users who log onto a Linux box (or checking
their email) via the user database stored on a Netware 4.x server? Ideally,
the user should not need to have an account defined on the Linux box, but
purely depend on the Netware server to supply both login ID and password?
Is LDAP an option in this case?

Moreover, if I have two Netware servers, one 4.x and other other 3.x, would it
be possible to authenticate the user using the user database on both servers
combined. ie. when authenticating the user, the Linux box would consult the
first
Netware server and if that fails, it would consult the second and if that
fails,
it would consult its own "passwd" database.

Oh, users should be able to change their password either via Unix "passwd"
or "setpass", and change made via one means should reflect in the other.

Thanks in advance.
Lei
