How to determine the auth method used?

Apologies if this question is a repeat, but I haven't seen it addressed in any recent posts to the group, or in any of the PAM documentation:
 
If a system is configured to use multiple auth methods (LDAP, RADIUS, etc.) - when a user is successfully authenticated with pam_authenticate(), how can you determine which auth method PAM used to authenticate the user?
