Did you compile jpam yourself or did you use the binary from Sourceforge?
The binary is linked correct against libpam:

# ldd libjpam.so
        linux-gate.so.1 =>  (0xffffe000)
        libpam.so.0 => /lib/libpam.so.0 (0xb7f02000)
        libpam_misc.so.0 => /lib/libpam_misc.so.0 (0xb7efe000)
        libdl.so.2 => /lib/libdl.so.2 (0xb7efa000)
        libc.so.6 => /lib/libc.so.6 (0xb7dda000)
        libaudit.so.0 => /lib/libaudit.so.0 (0xb7dc9000)
        /lib/ld-linux.so.2 (0x80000000)

So I assume you recompiled it yourself and libjpam.so is not linked
against libpam?
