pam_namespace: creating polyinstantiated dirs

Hi,

I use the follwing line in namespace.conf:


$HOME    /var/home/$USER/     user:create

and I wonder why pam_namespace doesn't create the directory 
/var/home/$USER? If I create the dir manually, all is fine.

Do I miss something?

The system is debian-lenny.
