I'm now using an NPTL libc with the 6 patches I sent (one is pending maintainer approval) and the "clear TLS" kernel patch on Debian Unstable and Perl, Python, apt-get and Galeon work. Evolution also works with the exception of evolution-executive-summary failing for reasons I still haven't tracked down (plus the known 2.5 compose failure). Apache2 fails. Note however that any program that uses errno without including errno.h is broken and the only simple fix is to recompile with CC="gcc -include /usr/include/errno.h".
