if you do want to try this use sash (stand alone shell) instead of
your usual shell.  it is most probably packaged with your
distribution.

it has builtins for cp, ln, rm etc so moving about your libraries is
as easy as copying/relinking the files ... if things don't work just
put the old ones back.
