Now that Linus committed the kernel changes I needed I've uploaded

  nptl-0.6.tar.bz2

to

  http://people.redhat.com/drepper/nptl
and
  ftp://people.redhat.com/drepper/nptl

Several more steps werwe made in the right direction. All the libc
compatibility issues are hopefully resolved, the semaphore
implementation got completely rewritten, and we have support for a
couple of new kernel features to handle thread exit of the main thread
and fork better.

To use these sources you absolutely have to use the very latest 2.5
kernel and glibc sources. The glibc sources are available from CVS.
The kernel sources are available from Linus' Bitkeeper tree. Don't ask
me to explain Bitkeeper. if you don't already use it you might want to
wait until 2.5.49 is out. Trying to run the code with an older kernel
will produce funny results at best. Compiling with older glibc sources
plainly won't work.

There are still a number of items on my list. I'll hopeflyy be able to
handle them quickly now that the kernel has all the functionality I need
(at least for the moment).

As usual, send reports to this list. Patches for glibc itself must go
to libc-alpha sources redhat com
