No, the references are undefined.  But if you link with -lpthread when
creating libdb you get a DT_NEEDED entry for libpthread and therefore
the library will be looked at when linking the application.

Run

  readelf -s <DSO> | fgrep pthread_condattr_setpshared

before and after the change and see the difference.

Again, this has nothing whatsoever to do with nptl.  If you need to
learn more about ELF read the ELF spec.
