A copy of most plugins will not work. In the case of java, you must symlink it or it will indeed crash. Remove your plugin from /usr/lib/mozilla-1.2.1/ and use

*oops*!!!

cd /usr/lib/mozilla-1.2.1/

cd/usr/lib/mozilla-1.2.1/plugins ... right? (I changed to *this* directory)

ln -s /usr/java/j2re1.4.1/plugin/i386/ns610/filename.so ]

~ns610.libjavaplugin_oji.so

No more crashing of Mozilla, but there is definitely a memory leak.
After a while, I have to flush the cache, and exit Mozilla, since it's
unusable (horribly sl-oooooooo-wwwww) even downloading mail,
let alone reading. writing, or deleting same!
