RE: Controlling VertRefresh on 2nd display - Radeon M9



I've seen a similar issue with my IBM T30.  While plugged
in to the docking station I can't get above 60hz on the external
monitor.  I'm pretty sure someone bugged this a while ago
but you may want to check.

A fresh phoebe3 install works very well on my new used Dell Inspiron
8200 with Radeon Mobility 9000, thanks to the new XFree86. Except for
the CD burning problems, I'm a happy camper. However...

With the laptop closed and docked in the port replicator, I can't get
an external CRT to sync at anything other than 60Hz. This interacts
badly with the fluorescent lights around here. Can anyone help save my

So it seems to be ignoring the refresh rates I set.

Driver stuff I've tried:
  Option "CloneVRefresh" -- ignored
  Option "DDCMode" -- also ignored

Aside: Option "EnablePageFlip" seems to work very well, but doesn't
solve my problem.

Another problem: When X starts, I can see by peeking that the notebook
screen's backlight turns on (this is the UltraSharp 15" panel), even
though the cover is closed.

Should I try the mharris 4.3.0 RPMs noted earlier, or can anyone tell
from the following what's going wrong?
