Hi,

I've rebased the patches. They should be applied after patch #8 and #9.

Please take a look at #8 and see if it's sufficient to verify the 
correctness.

About the performance, I compared the results of #9 before and after 
conversion to Charset, there are some differences but I don't think the 
difference is significant.
