The HTML, even fixed, looks poor, and I doubt much can be done to fix this. This tag can break section 508 compliance. At the minimum we would require enforcing the use of attributes to overcome this breakage. This tag breaks txt output; possibly the section 508 fix would overcome this. The following only works with "make html" (not html-single): --- The following options can be set in the Makefile. The CHUNK options must be set before the include section. For example: XML_LANG = en-US DOCNAME = Portal_EAP PRODUCT = JBoss_Portal BRAND = JBoss #OTHER_LANGS = as-IN bn-IN de-DE es-ES TRANSLATIONS = $(XML_LANG) $(OTHER_LANGS) CHUNK_SECTION_DEPTH = 1 COMMON_CONFIG = /usr/share/documentation-devel include $(COMMON_CONFIG)/make/Makefile.common A space is required between the variable name and the value: "CHUNK_SECTION_DEPTH=1" will not work! 1: Default (chunking) When no options are set all sections are on their own page. 2: CHUNK_FIRST = 0 First level 1 section is on same page as the chapter. All other sections are on their own page, for example: test

"test" and "this is a section" would appear on a single page. "this is another section" will be on a separate page. 3: CHUNK_FIRST = 0 and CHUNK_SECTION_DEPTH = 0 No sections are chunked, every chapter is on one page. For example, the following content would appear on a single page: test
this is a section

I fixed Bugzilla to auto CC the list. Currently there are separate fop files (conf, font metrics) for each version of FOP and each version of the O/S. These files need to be created when publican is built instead of being pre-generated. Supported O/S: rhel4, rhel5, fc9, rawhide Supported FOP: 0.20, 0.95beta Files that need auto-generation: 1. fop.conf 2. font-metrics/*.xml (one per font) 3. pickfont.xsl (needs xsl:import in pdf.xsl) pickfont.xsl needs to override these templates: 1. pickfont-sans 2. pickfont-serif 3. pickfont-mono Spec file needs to be able to set the correct Requires and BuildRequires for each O/S. FOP 0.20 support will be dropped for O/S >= rhel5 since FOP 0.95beta has been built in brew. FOP has not been built for epel4 or epel5 so integration needs to be disabled for those builds until FOP is available in those repositories. Chapter 1 1. Section 1 1.1 Sub-section 1 1.2 Sub-section 2 2. Section 2 2.1 Sub-section 1 2.2 Sub-section 2 3. Section 3 2. Chapter 2 ditto 3. Chapter 3 ditto In the actual document, the chapters are not numbered; numbering starts at the first section, so in one respect the TOC is correct, but it's confusing. Just looking at the TOC, I expected (for the same layout): 1. 1.1. 1.1.1. 1.1.2. 1.2. 1.2.1. etc. https://engineering.redhat.com/docbot/en-US/Red_Hat_Enterprise_IPA/1.0/pdf/Administrators_Reference/Administrators_Reference.pdf This also affects xrefs. Instead of an xref displaying as 'Section 3.1.1.2. "How to do something"' it actually displays as 'Section 1.1.2. "How to do something"'. It completely omits the chapter reference. In the online pdf, the link actually works; i.e., clicking the link takes you to the correct position in the doc, but it is very confusing to read and in the hard-copy version there is no way of knowing the correct chapter. OK: NOT OK: This is actually a bug in the way the pot file is created, which is the xml2pot command in the kdesdk. e.g. para in xml: To view vcpus using virsh refer to for more information. msgid in pot: msgid "" "To view vcpus using virsh refer to for more information." NOTE: the space between linkend= and " has been removed in the pot. This means when the PO file is merged with the XML file the msgid doesn't match the XML and it can't resolve the msg. Work around is to not have white space between the = and " in attributes. Moving to kdesdk component for further consideration. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is. The work around for this is to display the link URLs inline, which looks a bit weak, but is readable. I will do try to find out why this is broken. If I can't before the next release I will ensure the above work around is in place :( -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is. See the last comments in RT3 #24123 for a response from LMI, and search for "trademark of Linus Torvalds" in RT3 #24548 for the response from Red Hat legal (let me know if you need help finding it).
