The source problem is in the legal notice we've been using in Fedora, confusion over the language "under license to", and the lack of this notice appearing on the fedora*.org domains. I'll work this through with Red Hat legal, then do the fix in the Fedora Docs toolchain (which is moving soon to fedorahosted.org). I'll reassign this bug back to a publican committer when we get new language to use. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug. Publican seem to expect locales in the form of $lang-$country, e.g. en-US or hi-IN. 1) Many open source projects use underscore rather than hyphen for locale codes, for example en_US or hi_IN. I'm all in favour of the publican-approach, and converting projects to use these is trivial. 2) For some languages, a country code in the locale name is not used, and this breaks publican when running 'make report-all'. Not sure if other parts of publican breaks. I'm not convinced that enforcing a country-code in the locale name is the right thing to do. Should this be considered a bug? The country-code (additional sub-tags) in RFC3066 [1] is optional. There is also a special case for e.g. Serbian (sr and sr_Latn). I think using RFC3066 these would be written sr and sr-Latn, or with a country code sr-RS and sr-Latn-RS. cheers, asgeir [1] http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc3066.txt From asgeirf at redhat.com Tue Sep 30 04:57:59 2008 From: asgeirf at redhat.com (Asgeir Frimannsson) Date: Tue, 30 Sep 2008 00:57:59 -0400 (EDT) Subject: [publican-list] Use of language-codes in Publican In-Reply-To: <32211561.1931222750339413.JavaMail.asgeirf@localhost.localdomain> Message-ID: <5890696.1951222750538380.JavaMail.asgeirf@localhost.localdomain> ----- "Asgeir Frimannsson" wrote: > Hi publicans and others, > > I was doing some work earlier today with Fedora release notes and > publican, and noticed a potential issue with locale names. > > Publican seem to expect locales in the form of $lang-$country, e.g. > en-US or hi-IN. > > 1) Many open source projects use underscore rather than hyphen for > locale codes, for example en_US or hi_IN. Sorry, the target that fails is 'publish-report', where the process spits out a lot of messages like: "Use of uninitialized value $language in string eq at /usr/bin/StSe_Reports line 72." cheers, asgeir >Not sure if > other parts of publican breaks. This is a minor bug in the way this script generates the html reports. Are there any other issues? Does 'make report-total-all' work properly? Yes, this seem to work fine. I have no idea of how and what the other targets do, but I see heaps of references in the documentation to '-' (via make help), and using a code without the '-' would IMO not typically produce a predictable result :) cheers, asgeir From bugzilla at redhat.com Tue Sep 30 06:10:33 2008 From: bugzilla at redhat.com (bugzilla at redhat.com) Date: Tue, 30 Sep 2008 02:10:33 -0400 Subject: [publican-list] [Bug 462673] mangled spacing with >=10 items in an orderedlist In-Reply-To: References: Message-ID: <200809300610.m8U6AXxm017002@bz-web2.app.phx.redhat.com> Please do not reply directly to this email.
