The brand package for Fedora has already been built for Rawhide and F-12, and F-11 (at least) will follow when dependencies are met. Many thanks! Since my last email, the maintainer of the only package blocking F-11 has responded to say that he will build the package for us. F-11, is of course, the greatest concern. All the HTML targets work, including ePub :P It is worth user testing on Windows, please let us know if you do and what results you get. The installer is at https://fedorahosted.org/releases/p/u/publican/Publican-Installer.exe Caveats: * Image sizing doesn't work, reports a warning * PDF has not been tested * gettext tools have not been tested. - you can create POTs and build translated docs - but merging changes in English in to existing PO's - has not been tested * An access warming is displayed the first time you run publican * There is a missing MSVC dll on some versions of Windows - Not sure about the legality of linking that in - so it has been left out - you can download it from various sources - copy it in to your path or the Publican root directory Cheers, Jeff. -- Jeff Fearn Software Engineer Engineering Operations Red Hat, Inc Freedom ... courage ... Summary: Publican seems to be pre-processing .xml files in extras/ https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=540383 Summary: Publican seems to be pre-processing .xml files in extras/ Product: Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 Version: 5.4 Platform: All OS/Version: Linux Status: NEW Severity: medium Priority: low Component: publican AssignedTo: mhideo at redhat.com ReportedBy: dmison at redhat.com QAContact: jwulf at redhat.com CC: publican-list at redhat.com Classification: Red Hat Target Release: --- Description of problem: If I use <programlisting><xi:include href="extras/example.xml" parse="text"/></programlisting> to pull in a .xml file from extras/ the XML file is included and does not cause a docbook error. However the XML file is modified, the same as the XML files in the parent directory. My understanding was that files in extras/ were untouched. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): publican-jboss-1.0-0.el5 publican-ovirt-1.0-0.el5 publican-gimp-1.0-0.el5 perl-Publican-WebSite-1.0-0.el5 publican-1.2-0.el5 publican-redhat-internal-1.0-1.el5 publican-WebSite-obsoletes-1.14-1.el5 publican-fedora-1.0-0.el5 publican-doc-1.2-0.el5 publican-redhat-1.0-0.el5.t1 How reproducible: every time Steps to Reproduce: 1. create an XML file in extras/ eg. example.xml with the content: <juddi-users> <user userid="anou_mana" password="password" /> <user userid="bozo" password="clown" /> <user userid="sviens" password="password" /> </juddi-users> 2. <programlisting language="XML"><xi:include href="extras/example.xml" parse="text" xmlns:xi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XInclude/></programlisting> 3. publican build --formats=html --langs=en-US Actual results: programlisting appears as: <?xml version='1.' encoding='utf-8' ?> <!DOCTYPE juddi-users PUBLIC "-//OASIS//DTD DocBook XML V4.5//EN" "http://www.oasis-open.org/docbook/xml/4.5/docbookx.dtd" [ <!ENTITY % BOOK_ENTITIES SYSTEM "../jUDDI_User_Guide.ent"> %BOOK_ENTITIES; ]> <juddi-users lang="en-US"><user password="password" userid="anou_mana"></user><user password="clown" userid="bozo"></user><user password="password" userid="sviens"></user></juddi-users> Expected results: <juddi-users> <user userid="anou_mana" password="password" /> <user userid="bozo" password="clown" /> <user userid="sviens" password="password" /> </juddi-users> Other Info: Current workaround is to use a different file extension for XML files. I am fairly certain this might have been working correctly in a previous version, but I do not have any earlier versions installed to verify now. I do remember testing it, but never actually updated any of my books to use it, so it could well have been a dream. ;-) -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug. It doesn't affect the docs-stage, it affects books you build locally and in the docs brew root. > Once the perl module is available in the docs repo, will the Docs-Stage also be > able to use the updated module? Who would update the Docs-Stage? The updated package is available in the docs brew root a "short time' after the package has been tagged. Then you need to re-brew the affected books to get them updated. I mentioned the docs repo because that is where rhel users will get the updated package for local builds of html/pdf etc. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug. Message-ID: <4B0E1037.7080500@redhat.com> Hi all, we will be pushing Publican 1.3 next week. We wanted to wait a bit longer but there are 4 high priority bugs that changed our minds. Here is a list of the changes: - Fixed --version BZ #533081 - Fixed empty params in new book cfg file. BZ #533322 - Fixed clean_ids taking too long. - Added nowait option for brew. - Improved epub support. BZ #536706 - Add missing rpm-build req. BZ #537970 - Changed ol ol style. BZ #537256 - Fix missing revision history field crash. BZ #539741 - Fix bug in condition logic in XmlClean. BZ #540685 - Add translation stats. BZ #540696 - Stopped processing xml files in extras dir. BZ #540383 - Fixed callout rendering. BZ #531686 - Fix wrong docs for condition usage. BZ #540691 - Remove list style from stepalternatives. BZ #511404 - Force step::para to keep-with-next if followed by a figure. My personal favorites are: 1: epub target now generates a fully formed and valid epub file* 2: callout list layout no longer makes you vomit! For example, compare: http://docs.fedoraproject.org/release-notes/f12/en-US/html/ with http://docs.fedoraproject.org/release-notes/f12/en-US/html-single/ and notice the small "fedora" and "Made with Publican" graphics missing from the top of the page in the single-page version. I hit this today while building a brand that uses some fancy CSS that looked fine in the multi-page version but broke badly in the single-page version. Can anyone see any problem with adding these graphics to the single-page HTML output? Apart from making it easier to design pages to render the same way in single-page and multi-page, this also would add a little bit of minor functionality that's currently missing. Thoughts? FYI since the desktop is a customisation of the html-single, it too is affected. Attached is a demo of the PUG built with the fedora brand. It is certainly possible to get this in to 1.3 if there are no objections. Cheers, Jeff. -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... I submitted[1] a package for the Fedora Accessibility Guide for review and it passed without batting an eye. This should be helpful for other guides as well. I'm still pondering the best way to handle the different languages, though. I will remind everyone that the reason we do the languages separately is that it proved impossible to keep a sane translation work flow with a single SRPM. This isn't a guess, we expended significant energy trying to make it work pre-RHEL5 and it proved unworkable for non-trivial content. Unless someone has a cogent approach to solving this then you are better off sucking it up and using separate SRPMs. If someone does have a cogent approach I am more than willing to help implement it. If you are a translator and care about the effects of this kind of approach then now is the time to speak up. I mean really, if you don't care enough to speak about it then maybe I am misremembering how bad it was.
