Twas brillig at 20:29:23 01.06.2010 UTC-04 when rpjday at crashcourse.ca did gyre and gimble:

 RPJD> so does that mean you can or can't build the users guide without
 RPJD> building and installing everything else?

cd $(GUIDEDIR) && \
perl -I $(CURDIR)/blib/lib $(CURDIR)/blib/script/publican build \
   --formats=html-desktop --publish --langs=all \
   --common_config="$(CURDIR)/blib/datadir" \
   --common_content="$(CURDIR)/blib/datadir/Common_Content"

this is how User's Guide is build during Debian package building.

GUIDEDIR is the directory where User's Guide is located, CURDIR is a top
directory of source code.
