Hi Josh,
I've been (mostly) successfully syncing the OEL Public repos since pulp v1. The OEL5 repo is fairly straightforward but the OEL6 repo contains over 24K packages. Recently the metadata generation step of the publish stopped working for my OEL6 repo. I was able to fix that by reducing the number of copies of old packages to sync. That brought the repo down to about 15k packages.

The one oddity you have to work around is the OEL6 repo will download all of the packages but then fail on the Delta RPMs or Distributions steps. You then just need to run a separate publish task on the repo.

I used the following command to create my OEL6 repo:
pulp-admin rpm repo create --feed=http://public-yum.oracle.com/repo/OracleLinux/OL6/latest/x86_64 --remove-missing=true --retain-old-count=2 --repo-id=ol6_x86_64_latest
