Please open a bug with all the server logs as well as the contents of the ~/.pulp/server_calls.log that should have the results of the rest call from the server. For the item where changing the relative-url resulted in some dangling symlinks for the old relative-url we have an an open bug at https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1141252. Regards,

Thanks for the pointer to .pulp/server_calls.log:

   "queue": "reserved_resource_worker-0 at pulp-64.dq",
   "state": "error",
   "result": null,
   "error": {
     "code": "PLP0001",
     "data": {
       "message": "Spawning worker 0 with 8443 pkgs\n\n::\nCannot
access/write repodata files: [Errno 12] Cannot allocate memory\n"
     "description": "A general pulp exception occurred",
     "sub_errors": []

2 GB Memory is not enough to publish a repo with 8500 packages,
increasing memory to 4GB solved the problem.
