This was probably an oversight. Your change the cudl.py may be all that
is necessary, but as you suggested we also have obviously not tested
this so I am not certain if more would be required or not. I filed an
RFE here to track this feature request:

This sounds likely unrelated to the proxy change to me, and more like
one of the tasks was not able to find your pypi repository in the
database. Was there any more information in your syslog, perhaps a long
traceback or two? If so, can you share those? Is your repository
definitely named "pypi" (it is case sensitive)?
