Bob,
Thank you. I was able to load swat.
In the file I changed "disable = no" and added:
"kill -HUP `pidof xinetd`" to the file.
I changed the [homes] section in the smb.conf as Rick suggested.
I still cannot see any resources on the server but the server is listed in "Network Neighborhood".

It should be on your distribution disks. Assuming RH 9, it's on disk
3. Use redhat-config-packages, or (as root)
mount /dev/cdrom
rpm -ivh /mnt/cdrom/RedHat/RPMS/samba-swat*.rpm
eject
