ide2: unexpected interrupt

Hi,

I managed to install a Redhat 8 (psyche) )kernel version 2.4.18_14) to a Dell precision 470.
But every time I reboot the system,  I am getting 

ide2: unexpected interrupt status=0xd0 count=xxxx

after the portmapper daemon started.

The count number is getting bigger and bigger which slow down the system dramatically.
I wonder is there anyway I can fix this problem. Your assistance is greatly appreciated.
