Logical Volume Manager

This is primarily directed to experts who might have tried LVM.
Between my five machines, two of one client, and one of another, I've
grown tired of shuffling partitions and drives to meet unexpected
space needs. I am considering getting into Logical Volume Manager.
Yes, I have read Chapters 4 and 1 of The Fine Manual

http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/linux/RHL-9-Manual/custom-guide/

I've heard much praise from veteran SysAdmins about LVM, but wanted to
know if there are any drawbacks to it, or are you just as well off
backing up and using parted?

Cheers,
