Answer: Because it shows the shows the cronological flow of the

After you boot with the install disk 1, and after a few questions, it
will announce:
Searching for Linux installations:
And then it will give you a choice of upgrading the existing
installation (to FC1) or reinstalling (which will wipe out your
existing RH 9 installation). You should "upgrade".
