need some help abt configuring modem

hi, i am new to linux. i have just installed the red hat linux 9.0 and want  
to connect to net using my modem (dial up). I tried to configure my  modem 
through internet configuration but it doesn't detect my modem. So is there 
any way it can detect it??? are there any drivers available for my modem 
like in windows???? i desperately need to connect to net . reply 
soon!!!!!!!!!!!
