I think you can try these 2 things -

in the manual on-line at www.redhat.com
red hat linux customization guide
go to managing disk storage chapter 5.
go to section 5.1 viewing the partition table

you can use parted or if you are doing a full
install you could use the druid utility.

I am just a beginner so if any expert thinks
this is the wrong advice feel free to blast away.
