Being that nobody has taken a stab at answering this question I'll try
my best with somewhat limited experience. I managed to get Fedora Core 1
(running 2,4) kernel to recognize a SATA drive on one system but, I had
to change some settings in the BIOS in order to make it happen. I am now
running FC3 (kernel 2.6) under that same machine and the SATA drive
appears to be fully supported and with normal BIOS settings. From my
experiences I would recommend your distro with kernel >= 2.6 . Perhaps
others on the list can shed more light on this topic.
