/proc file system

Does anybody know if the /proc filesystem contains entries anywhere
which display which scsi ad ide devices have been assigned in Linux? I
am looking for something similar to:

Scsi	--> /dev/sda, /dev/sdb, /dev/sdc, /dev/sdd

IDE	--> /dev/hda, /dev/hdb

Ideally, I would like to be able to pick this info up during a Linux
install via a kick start %pre script. I know that /proc contains the
scsi/scsi info but it doesn't actually specify the device allocation,
just the device type...

Any suggestions, ideas would be very welcome....
