cloning a boot partition

You can use dd, feks:
> $ dd if=/dev/hda of=image_hda.iso

Sounds pretty hairy though. 

If I were gonna do that I would do a grub reinstall, use the cp command and 
use vi to edit whatever I needed to edit, but that is just my approach.
