(no subject) group add

 i found entry in /etc/passwd file itself

still i wanna know proper command to do this

  how to add a user to a graup from test prompt.
  say "sambauser" group 
  and user "ajay"

  and also tell me which file it stores all this information regarding groups 
   
  like "/etc/passwd" file stores info about users, their home dir.. etc.
