RH 9 is very old. Please download the cd's from Fedora Core 4 to have 
the latest version.

For your problem, I guess pressing ENTER should do the trick. If not, 
you must have an error displayed. Don't remember if CTRL-ALT-F3 is 
working at this stage: this open the log console.
