where did you get this "onfiltered=yes" option from?
What was it suppsoed to do?
I can't find it in any recent documentation.

That is extremely unlikely.
Have you tried any of the advice you were given?

okay, try the following:
1. log in as root (or become root by opening a terminal and typing "su -")
2. /sbin/ip a
(post the output here)
3. also post the content of /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0
and ifcfg-lo
4. stop using redhat-config-network as it is very broken in Red Hat 9.
Alternatively, *either* use redhat-config-network (the graphical tool)
*or* edit files by hand (or using netconfig). The two different tools do
not work well together on RH9

which address did you *want* eth0 to have? or are you using DHCP to
automatically assign addresses?

oh, and please make this thread more readable (for me at least) by
typing your replies into this email under the questions you are
answering, rather than all at the top. That way it is easier to identify
who and what you are responding to.

Regards,

Stuart
