I figured it out, sort of. The automounting of the CD by gnome
locks up the device, and xcdroast doesn't give any indication (at least when
launched from the panel) why it can't read the disk--it just doesn't

If I unmount it manually first, xcdroast recognizes works fine.

Anybody know how to get xcdroast to preempt the automount? Other suggestions?

Thx,
