Yeah, short answer is that redhat sucks on this! Haha, maybe that's a
bit harsh but I really like lynx. They have links and w3m for text
browsing. You can get the mysql server from mysql.com (or .org)

Yes, use post scripts to determine something unique about the server
(perhaps fqdn). I use cfengine to do things like this.
