ncsa_auth program can be used to integrate with squid
for authentication purpose.
path for ncsa_auth:
/usr/lib/squid/ncsa_auth
command for making password file:
htpasswd /etc/squid/password foo
enter password:<for foo user>
then set permission to password file as 644
In SQUID
**********
TAG: authenticate_program
Default: authenticate_program /usr/bin/ncsa_auth
/usr/etc/passwd
Change it to:
authenticate_program /usr/lib/squid/ncsa_auth
/etc/squid/password
Then add the ACL
acl auth proxy_auth REQUIRED
http_access allow mynetwork auth
Limitations of proxy_auth type are we can only use acl
type proxt_auth once in a squid and we cannot use
transparent proxy if we are using proxy_auth.
