Sendmail error

I believe I read once (but I could be wrong) that the correct use of the %
is like this:

user at domain1%domain2

The result is that once (and if) the domain1 mx server rejects the username
the MTA sends it again to user at domain2. However this was a while ago and I
could be dead wrong... :)
