Samba - ldap

I am trying to get the samba-ldap PDC going on rh9
I have followed the instructions per -

And I am using the idealx smbldap tools.
I have one problem and I think it is the nss_ldap or pam_ldap.  I can create
a user in the ldap with the smbldap_tools but I cannot log into the RH box
or ssh in to it as this new user.
The following message shows up in /var/log/messages

Can anyone help me here?
