There is nothing wrong with the connection to sendmail at your site.
[egreshko at misty egreshko]$ telnet 24.24.15.155 25
Trying 24.24.15.155...
Connected to syr-24-24-15-155.twcny.rr.com (24.24.15.155).
Escape character is '^]'.
220 edsgate.mccorduck.ws ESMTP Sendmail 8.12.8/8.12.8; Wed, 14 Jul 2004

quit
The problem is still in DNS....
[egreshko at misty egreshko]$ host -t mx mccorduck.ws
;; connection timed out; no servers could be reached
A quick nmap scan of your host shows....

Remote operating system guess: Linux Kernel 2.4.0 - 2.5.20
Uptime 0.267 days (since Wed Jul 14 15:37:43 2004)
TCP Sequence Prediction: Class=random positive increments
Difficulty=5447144 (Good luck!)
IPID Sequence Generation: All zeros
Which indicates that port 53 for your DNS server is not opened.
