Quite so, which brings us full circle back to my original post:

# grep -i mgetmetar.pl /usr/libexec/gweather-applet-2
Binary file /usr/libexec/gweather-applet-2 matches

shows that gweather references mgetmetar.pl. 

Thus the thrust of the problem ...
