upgrading rpms...

hi....

relatively new to linux.. but i'm looking into the process of doing
install/upgrades for some apps.. when i do the rpm -Uvh command, the system
states that there are dependency issues..

what's the correct way to go about doing upgrades...

i'm trying to upgrade the libxml2 rpm... i have rh linux v8.0

i'd prefer using the rpms as i'm not ready to get into building from src
files yet..

i've reviewed some docs regarding "yum", but i can't even find the librpm
rpm at the version the yum site specifies...

any help/pointers/assistance would be helpful...
